Howdy folks -
Somewhere rolling around in my skull there's this memory of reading a report about a band called the TrashCan Sinatras (had some success in the early nineties tho didn't make much of a splash in the US) and how they recorded a version of Farmboy's Wages (probably my most favorite XTC song).
Anyone have a copy or know how to find one? I'd love to hear it.

Re: TCS / XTC connection? Other covers?
Thu, January 29, 2004 - 2:31 PMOh, and I meant to add. What about other XTC covers by other bands? Of course I've got the Feast of Friends album, which has its moments (hafta admit that Sarah McLaughlin does a stelllar Dear God), but I'd suspect there's gotta be other stuff out there. Yeah? -

Re: TCS / XTC connection? Other covers?
Thu, January 29, 2004 - 9:08 PMI've never heard of Feast of Friends. The one I have is called "A Testimonial Dinner", and features that same version of "Dear God" by Sarah McLachlan, and They Might be Giants doing "25 O'Clock", but everyone on that album is blown away by Ruben Blades doing a latin version of "The Man Who Sailed Around His Soul". -

Re: TCS / XTC connection? Other covers?
Thu, January 29, 2004 - 11:00 PMYeah, I've got to concur.
While SM's 'dear god send's chills down my spine, Ruben Blades manages to actually improve on the original.

Tue, March 23, 2004 - 12:48 PMUmm yeah - Testamonial Dinner was what I meant (brain fart). Dunno if I agree w. you regarding Ruben Blades' non-7/8 version of Man Who Sailed - I kinda liked the odd timing. <shrug>

Re: TCS / XTC connection? Other covers?
Tue, March 23, 2004 - 12:57 PMPrimus does a very cool, drum-heavy version of Making Plans for Nigel. Crash Test Dummies did a cover of Peter Pumpkinhead the same year that it was released which is interesting,

Re: TCS / XTC connection? Other covers?
Thu, January 29, 2004 - 8:21 PMMatey,
you HAVE to track down a copy of "Love on a farmboys wages" by The Poozies.
It made me realise what an amazing "folk" song it really is.
Good luck
