hey remember xtc' christmas song, i think it's on one of the hodge podge compilations. didn't XTC do an album of children's music? if so, what is it called, where can i find it? i'm getting tired of playing Monkey Business, Thomas The Tank Engine, and The Wiggles on the way to pre-school with my son...

Mon, March 22, 2004 - 5:02 PMThe song is called "Thanks for Christmas" and it's on a compilattion called Rag and Bone Buffet, which has a lot of other good tracks including the one they cut from Skylarking, Mermaid Smiled (replaced with Dear God). Here is a link:

Mon, March 22, 2004 - 6:17 PMyep, that's the one. i have it, but it won't keep my 3 year old occupied for more than say 4 or 5 playings :) i could have sworn that XTC did a bunch of music for some british kids show tho. -

Tue, March 23, 2004 - 12:42 PMAndy wrote music for the movie James And The Giant Peach, but sadly the studio rejected it (bastards!) and went and got Randy Newman to do the soundtrack.
I suspect that the "James" songs were never fully recorded nor released. =(

Re: xtc children songs
Wed, March 24, 2004 - 4:59 PMYou should get some of the Andy Partridge "Fuzzy Warbles". I have managed to entertain my kids with a careful selection of songs...including the "James and the Giant Peach" stuff.
