Points to consider:

That was more than three years ago. Since then some teenager has heard this cover version and taken away the message that XTC are "cool" and gone on listen to the real thing and has since become an XTC fan.

Someone presumably brough this song to Moore to cover...but at least she showed the good taste to appreciate it, and tried to do a faithful version within the best of her ability. I'm not liking her band much, but the poor arrangement isn't her fault.

Finally...one A. Partridge recieved a modest royalty check each time this cover version was played, and that is no bad thing.

So all in all, perhaps a mournful sigh is called for here, but it's no reason for suicide.
